Hello,
My name is Nora Rogers. Im a special education teacher for elementary students grades k-6. Some things that I enjoy doing in my spare time are gardening, hiking, playing ball with Buzz, and volunteering in my community. I earned my dual degree in Elementary Education and Special Education k-8 through Northern Arizona University in 2019. This is my fifth year of teaching in a mild/ moderate inclusion special education classroom. My passion for teaching is driven by the inspiration that I get from my students every day. Despite the cards life has dealt them, they can achieve so much when given what they need. I hope to use the skills that I learn in the class professionally and personally. As a SPED teacher, I feel that the collaboration between general education and special education could be much more cohesive if we all honestly believe that a student's behavior is not who they are, rather a function of communication. I recently been fortunate to be part of the PBIS team for our school. We are the only school in our district currently using the multi-tiered behavior support system. I have seen the challenges firsthand of changing the culture of a school. |
